Common Cure Factors of Hypertension

lthough hypertension is a serious condition that can result in premature death, there are several lifestyle changes that can positively impact your risk of either facing the inevitable, or developing secondary conditions related to hypertension. Regardless of your personal risk factors of developing high blood pressure, diet and lifestyle will always play a factor that can ultimately make or break your chances of beating the odds.

Lifestyle Changes That Can Cure Hypertension

Lifestyle changes include losing weight, increasing exercise or physical activity level, avoiding environmental pollutants such as second hand smoke, avoiding overuse of narcotics and/ or alcohol, and watching the amount of sodium, fat and cholesterol in your diet. This also means keeping other diseases and stressful situations under control because stress control is a major factor. If your job or living situation is a major source of stress in your life, it is imperative to your physical and mental health to make every effort possible to alleviate stress. This could include exercise, relaxation/breathing techniques, or having some sort of stress outlet. However, it may be necessary to leave the situation altogether for the sake of your health, especially if you have stage 3 hypertension.

Other Methods of Controlling Hypertension

It goes without saying that curing hypertension involves major lifestyle changes of the proper diet and exercise, that is, if the condition is detected in time. Remember, this condition is asymptomatic, so regular blood pressure checks are imperative. Other methods of controlling hypertension include the intake of prescription medications. However, a good balance would be to incorporate proper diet and exercise along with taking the lowest effective dosage of medications in order to avoid overtaxing the liver with excessive medications. As what Hippocrates, the father of holistic medicine, said, “Let food be your medicine and medicine be your food.” However, always check with your primary healthcare physician before starting or stopping any medications, or increasing or decreasing any dosage. Medications alone are not a cure for hypertension, much in the same way that proper diet alone, or exercise alone are not a cure for this condition. It is a three-point triangle that depends upon each other for a complete shape.
