Hazyview is another misty place in Mpumalanga, from there the name Hazyview. It is the ideal place to stay if you want to visit the Kruger National Park and all the many other attractions that make this area so popular.

WHAT TO DO IN HAZYVIEW

Visit the Kruger National Park for a day. Hazyview is about 10 kilometers from the Kruger Gate. This Gate is very close to the big and busy camp of Skukuza. Gates are open from around 06:00 in the morning till 17:30 in the afternoon. In summer the times are bit more extended.

A guided night drive in the Game Park can be arranged with private tour operators. No private cars are allowed to drive alone at night.

Pilgrim’s Rest, Graskop and Sabie are all within a 50 kilometer radius for a nice day- outing.

Adventurers should try the Skyway Trails where they can glide over the forest on the longest cable trail in Africa. The trail is 1, 2 kilometers long but divided into 70 – 230 meter sections linked by 10 platforms. Qualified guides accompany participants and all age groups are welcome. Children under the age of 10 needs to be assisted and the weight limit for participants is 120 kilograms.

An early morning balloon ride over the beautiful scenic mountains and lush vegetation is a good start to any day. Balloons over Africa provides this service and take up to 8 people at a time.

WHERE TO STAY IN HAZYVIEW

One of the most beautiful resorts in this area is Sanbonani. Sanbonani means “welcome to you all” in Swazi, one of South Africa’s indigenous languages. Lovely chalets with an outside deck ensure a luxury stay. Chalets are spacious with up to 3 bedrooms and a big lounge area. The Sabie and Sand rivers form the boundaries of this resort and hippos come out to play on the grass at sunset.

For backpackers there is Bushpackers with en suite rooms, a dormitory, rooms only and camping facilities. It has a wonderful African atmosphere with all the necessary amenities to make your stay pleasurable.

Most other accommodations are in lovely lodges or the Sanbonani Resort Hotel.

WHERE TO EAT IN HAZYVIEW

Wimpy, Nando’s and the Spar supermarket will cater for your take away and self-catering needs.

Most lodges and resorts have onsite restaurants that cater for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
