Meditation Techniques to Relax and Relieve Stress

One of the main reasons why people are interested in meditation is the benefits of it being able to relax you deeply and relieve a lot of stress from our daily lives. A basic meditation can easily relieve stress and let you relax. Another is a Chakra Meditation that can also be used. Both will be explained how to do them.

Basic Meditation to Relieve Stress

For the basic meditation you can sit or lie anywhere that is comfortable. A nice comfy chair or recliner chair will be perfect. Now when you’ve found your spot sit or lie down as which you preferred. Take a few deep breaths to let your body start relaxing and then close your eyes. Imagine you are sitting next to a small creek listening as the water goes by. Feel as though all the tension and stress is being carried away by the current of the creek.

The wind begins to pick up a little and you start hearing birds and other little animals come to the creek. You watch as they drink from the creek and sit next to you. You feel calm, at peace, as if nothing will cause you any discomfort here. Spend as much time as you want here. When you are ready to leave slowly open your eyes and rub your arms and legs if they fell asleep.

Grounding Chakra Meditation

To begin sit on the floor with a cushion preferably, but if you have problems sitting on the floor then a chair will be fine. The focus on this meditation is to focus on your Root Chakra and the flowing of the energy from the earth to you and then back in one large cycle.

When you are sitting begin to slowly breathe in and out deeply to relax your body. Then close your eyes half way, and focus on your breathing for a while to further the relaxation. As you focus on your breathing imagine a red sphere near the genital area, see it flowing with energy. Now imagine that that sphere is sprouting roots (Hence the name Root Chakra) into the earth deep to the Earth’s energy core.You will feel the “good energy” flowing from the earth to you while the “bad energy” is flowing into the Earth. Every stressful thought, anything that is causing discomfort will be taken on by the Earth and the Earth will help you heal and get ready for the next day of work. When you are finished open your eyes slowly and rub your legs if they fell asleep.
