Eczema is the inflammation of the skin which sometimes results to the formation of fluid-filled bumps. It is also characterized by itching, redness, and dryness of the skin. It is one of the most serious skin problems especially during infancy. It is commonly found in babies and children, oftentimes found in adults. The various causes of eczema are allergies, faulty body metabolism, changing temperature, as well as nutritional deficiencies. Though eczema is cannot be treated easily with antibiotic medication, there are various natural methods to treat this skin disorder.

Aromatherapy – the preferred Treatment

The most popular and preferred treatment to cure eczema is aromatherapy. In this therapy, they use oils, including lavender, patchouli, rosemary, and rose, which help in conditioning and moisturizing the skin. Before performing this, you should first speak with certified practitioner to make sure you’re not doing the wrong way. Improper usage of these oils could have undesirable effects on the skin. The best time to use the oil is after taking a bath. Do not put pressure when you are applying the oil for it may rupture the boils. Make sure to wash your hands after massaging the area to prevent spreading the infection to other parts of the body. Give few minutes for the oil to stay on the skin in order for the skin to absorb it.

Other Home Remedies for Eczema

Other than aromatherapy, there are other home remedies to cure eczema. Coconut oil can be applied to areas with eczema. It maintains the softness and moisture of the skin so it is a good remedy. Another beneficial treatment is sunbathing since it kills harmful bacteria in the skin. Water treatments, such as cold compress or cold wet fomentations, are proven useful in the treatment of eczema. You can do this twice a day depending on the severity of the condition.

You can also develop your own cream to be applied on the affected area. Make a fine paste of one tablespoon camphor and one tablespoon sandalwood. This is the most simple and very good home remedy for eczema. Another is making a fine paste by adding one tablespoon turmeric powder and one tablespoon of bitter neem leaves. While having these applied to your skin, you should avoid sing soaps, chemicals, and other drying agents.

To reduce eczema, application of spearmint leaf juice is an effective way. In order to prevent itching of the skin, you can mash papaya seeds and apply them to the affected areas. There are other home remedies available to treat this skin condition. They are more effective that synthetic treatments available. You just have to prevent using allergic products to lessen the occurrence of eczema.
