Smoking and Asthma:

Cigarette smoke is a common factor in inducing asthma attacks. The person inflicted with asthma does not need to be a smoker, but just being exposed to the toxins contained in cigarette smoke can trigger an attack. Child asthmatics are particularly affected by second-hand smoke, which has more of an impact on them than it does adults. Second-hand smoke is a lung irritant that produces excessive mucous in the lungs. Parents who smoke around their children cause the child to be more susceptible to upper respiratory infections even without asthma, which can prove to be harder to manage.

Physical Activity: Keeping active can not only help you to quit smoking, it has other health benefits as well. Being physically active helps to lower blood pressure and lose weight. Gaining weight can be a drawback in quitting, but increasing activity burns calories to keep the extra weight off.

Reduce your stress: Stressful lifestyles are factors of smoking. Avoiding situations that cause stress is not always possible, but unnecessary stress can be avoided by taking another pathway that isn't so stressful. Sometimes just by changing how we deal with certain events can make all the difference in the world.

Most all smokers like a cigarette after eating. Try to delay smoking after a meal or snack by replacing it with some other activity, such as going for a walk. Practice makes perfect.

There are smokers who don't like smoking around others who don't. The more you are in the company of those who don't smoke, you will find yourself lighting a cigarette less and less.

Of course, there is always doing it cold turkey. Certainly, this takes a strong constitution to accomplish. It takes great strength and will power to just make up your mind to kick the habit. After a few days you will feel experience a great difference in how you feel, and will enjoy the extra money in your pocket.
