The Universal Importance of Personal Fitness and Exercise

Modern medicine and technology have introduced modern man to an easier and longer life over the past century, but does an increase in life expectancy concurrently embrace a higher quality of life and health? Though many shy away from this universal question, the truth remains that modern society's highly sedentary lifestyle, coupled with dangerous food and drug standards have produced a heavy physiological toll on all who choose to fully embrace "modern convenience". This societal habit of pill-popping at every medical symptom, refusal of physical exercise, and incessant convenience dining is best described as painful suicide, prolonged by further medicinal aid to simply increase life expectancy, and its decrease its quality.

Personal physical fitness and exercise becomes more important now than ever before, notably improving both mental and physical health in all who highly value its life-altering benefits, and practice accordingly. The statistics are alarming, with only 60% of adults remaining physically underactive, and 25% completely sedentary, unwilling to move more than required. Furthermore, modern data concludes that only 20% of teenagers remain physically active in the crucial developmental years of life! This sedentary epidemic will soon condemn modern man to obesity and disease if these trends continue to linger in daily life.

Becoming physically active in daily life and exercising regularly allows one to look great, feel great, and perform at the highest potential through the changes it promotes. Bodily performance directly influences mental function and output, accordingly augmenting mental clarity, focus, and well-being. A conclusive study performed by Cambridge University recently provided that those who involve themselves in one hour or more of physical activity each day, were on average 33% less likely to die of any cause, than those who remained physically inactive on a daily basis.

The aforementioned are enough to place exercise high in priority, yet further, regular exercise is proven to help prevent:

  • Heart disease and stroke

  • High blood pressure,

  • Type II diabetes

  • Colon cancer

  • Back pain

  • Osteoporosis

  • Premature death

  • -And many more-

The benefits of personal fitness and exercise are endless, concluding that an active life is a healthy life, for both the body and the mind.
