The camcorder has a 2.7 inch LCD screen with 1/6-inch CCD image-sensor. The design of the camcorder is very easy to use and carry.The design which looks on the whole like a shell is made of light weight metal and is scratch resistant. It is easily portable and comfortable to hold while focusing long distance objects.

All the main controls are placed near the LCD screen and behind it. There are very few scanty controls on top and on the left and right sides. The menu settings provide numerous options to edit the videos and pictures taken and to adjust the exposure, focus and white balance.

Performance:

This lightweight camcorder’s overall performance could be rated good. Since it is not heavy it is easy to hold and has a fine grip. The LCD screen has good resolutions and the wide display clearly shows what we are shooting. Beside the LCD itself we have easy controls helping us to control the settings.

The user interface is very easy to understand and the menu settings are quite fast to navigate. The video and audio qualities are above average. The still photograph option also captures images with good sharpness and clarity. We could not note any pixilation or noise in the pictures. However when images from long distance are shot there is a little shake. Digital image stabilization feature does not seem to respond well.

Battery life is fairly good with 100 minutes of recording time and 2 hours of video playback. There are numerous special features like face detection, 3d noise reduction and creative control. We can upload the taken images or video directly into YouTube from this camcorder. The camcorder has inbuilt editing software which allow us to do actions like adding title.

The good:

Samsung SC-DX205 has numerous advantages like good quality video and audio, face detection, 3d noise reduction and direct upload to YouTube website. The price of the camcorder is very low compared to other camcorders with similar features in the market.

The bad:

All the features in the camcorder do not work excellently. The physical controls are minimized and most of the options have to be managed using tedious submenus. The battery life is just normal.

The bottom line:

Samsung SC-DX205 is a camera fit for casual use. Though there are options available in the camera to produce high quality professional videos and stills it is a bit hard for normal person to use them.
