The abdomen is considered as the area most treated by liposuction. Sometimes, no matter how much a person exercises and maintains a healthy diet, he just can’t get rid of the extra weight from his midsection. Liposuction surgery is the process of removing the fat deposits to give a more pleasing contoured shape. Abdominal liposuction is different from ‘tummy tuck’, which is the method to reduce the appearance of a saggy and overhanging stomach. Stomach liposuction only focuses on removing the fat in the abdomen and reducing the shape of the stomach. For men and women who are overweight and not comfortable with how they look like, disappointments and frustrations are reasonable, especially when they have exerted too much effort in following all kinds of exercises and diet plans and still get minimum results. If you are one of these people and you've already attempted to budge that ugly flab on your tummy using the usual weight loss methods and still fail, liposuction may be the answer to your problem.
Removing fatty deposits on different areas of the body is the main function of liposuction. This process can give a completely proportionate look to the physical frame of a person. It can be done in different parts of the body and has several kinds of methods and techniques as well. This surgical procedure has progressed and advanced over the years and has happen to better and safer. This is the main reason why this surgical procedure has become the most commonly done method not only in the United States but worldwide. The different procedures for abdominal liposuction
Nowadays, there are various techniques of liposuction which give comparable results. One of the most popular methods in use today is known as the tumescent liposuction, which utilizes a solution to make the fat cells more turgid and remove them. The surgical procedure is naturally performed under local anaesthetic, which is also thought of as a safer way. It also reduces any side effects which may occur from general anaesthesia. There are small incisions that should be made in the skin through which a small metal tube is inserted to disturb the fat cells and facilitate the removal by means of suction. The other method is called liposelection which utilizes ultrasonic waves to remove the fat cells without disturbing the surrounding tissue. Both methods use local anaesthetic and can take a maximum of three hours.
How to know if you are a candidate for abdominal liposuction?
You can easily identify if you have excess weight around the middle outer portion of the front of your body is to bend over from your waist and see if you can grab a handful of your tummy. Some people have a genetic tendency to have excess fat around their waist, and therefore liposuction may be the perfect solution. Abdominal fat can either be under the skin.
Recovery Period
Most patients are able to go back to their normal activities within three to five days of the surgery, though they should avoid tough exercise for a while. A compression garment must be worn for at least the first week. Patients can take painkillers as the abdomen will be swollen and tender, and bruising will occur but fade after a few days. It can take about six months to get the full extent of the stomach liposuction, but the results will be stable only if a healthy lifestyle is maintained.
