What is SEROQUEL?

SEROQUEL (SER-oh-kwell) is the trademark name of quetiapine fumarate that is a psychotic agent that belongs to chemical class dibenzothiazepine. It is indicated to treat schizoprenia, acute manic episodes associated bipolar I disorder, and acute depressive episodes for patients 13 years old and above.

What is the available dosage?

SEROQUEL is taken orally and is supplied as tablet in the following dosage:


  • 25 mg (round, peach)


  • 50 mg (round, white)


  • 100 mg (round, yellow)


  • 200 mg (round, white)


  • 300 mg (capsule-shaped, white)


  • 400 mg (capsule-shaped, yellow)

Take Seroquel as directed by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food. If you miss one dose, take it as soon as you remember it. If it is close to the next dose, skip the missed dose and follow your usual schedule. Do not take 2 doses all at the same time, unless advised.

Remember:

Seroquel can raise the risk of death in elderly with dementia and suicidal thoughts and actions. Thus pay attention to any sudden changes in mood, behaviours, thoughts and feeling when taking this medicine.

Seroquel should be taken exactly as how it is prescribed by your doctor. Sudden stop of intake of seroquel may result to insomnia, nausea and vomiting.

While taking Seroquel, do not drive, operate machinery, or other dangerous activities as this may make you drowsy. Avoid getting overheated or dehydrated and drinking alcohol.
